Your Primary Care Doctor (PCP)

How do I find who my primary care doctor (PCP) is?

If you haven’t already chosen a PCP in the myBlue Connected Care network, you’ll find that we have matched you with a doctor from a Sanitas Medical Center near you. That’s because your plan’s benefits work best and you get more perks when you have a Sanitas doctor. You can find your doctor’s name and contact information when you log in to your member account at floridablue.com or through the Florida Blue app.

With a Sanitas doctor as your designated PCP, you can enjoy:

  • Around the clock virtual access to your own health care team the way it works best for you—by phone, face-to-face through an app, email or text
  • Lower cost visits when you are referred to a specialist or have specialist consultations
  • Extra health and wellness programs when you have special needs or need help managing an ongoing condition
  • An online concierge that’s always available to direct you to the right service based on your needs

Can I change my doctor?

You can always see another doctor from the same medical group, and you can also have another doctor from the same medical group assigned as your PCP at any time. If you want to take full advantage of all the benefits and savings with the myBlue Connected Care plan, you’ll want to use a PCP from Sanitas.

What’s a Value Choice Provider?

Value Choice Providers help members receive high-quality convenient care at the lowest possible cost. They currently include all Sanitas Medical Centers and GuideWell Emergency Doctors’ locations in Florida.

Sanitas offers $0 copay for primary and urgent care visits,* convenient hours (often including nights and weekends), on-site diagnostic tests and imaging capabilities, urgent care services, specialists and other services.

GuideWell Emergency Doctors combines the ease of a walk-in clinic with the expertise of an ER. Their team of board-certified emergency medicine doctors offers care similar to the ER but at an average of 1/3 the cost1 and 1/2 the time.2 Plus, most members have $0 copays for up to two visits.

* Primary care and urgent care visits at $0 do not apply to Health Savings Account (HSA) plans; the deductible will still apply. Only first two (2) urgent care visits for non-HSA plans are $0, after that, urgent care cost share applies.

1 Cost is based on health plan actuarial analysis performed in 2016 that compared cost of hospital-based ER visit versus a GuideWell Emergency Doctors visit.

2  American College of Emergency Physicians

Urgent care visits at $0 do not apply to Health Savings Account (HSA) plans; the deductible will still apply. Only first two (2) urgent care visits for non-HSA plans are $0, after that urgent care cost share applies. For members who have coinsurance instead of copays, your cost will be your deductible plus your coinsurance percentage. Mammograms, sonograms, MRIs, EKGs and other diagnostic tests may require an additional copay. Check your plan’s benefit booklet for more information.

Finding the Care You Need

What if I want to go to a clinic, specialist, testing facility or different doctor’s office?

You’ll keep your costs as low as possible by always seeing your in-network PCP first. They can refer you to other doctors and facilities as necessary.

How does my doctor’s office coordinate my care?

Care coordination is all the behind-the-scenes work needed to make sure you have the care you need. It can include:

  • Completing paperwork for referrals to specialists, therapists and others
  • Setting appointments
  • Working with other doctors and nurses to ensure you receive the medical care you need
  • Making sure you receive needed tests, screenings and vaccinations on time
  • Following up after a procedure to ensure your recovery is going smoothly
  • Communicating with your pharmacy when your doctor orders prescriptions

A Guide to Prescription Drug Coverage

How do if I know if a medication is covered by myBlue Connected Care?

The myBlue Connected Care plan covers a wide range of prescription medicines, including more than 200 prescriptions with $0 copay. To see if a prescription drug is covered, check your Medication Guide.

Where do I go to pick up my medications?

Walgreens is your pharmacy. To find the Walgreens closest to you, use the pharmacy locator. For medications you take consistently, you can also choose to receive three-month supplies of your prescriptions by mail.

What if I want to use a pharmacy besides Walgreens?

Walgreens is the only in-network pharmacy covered by myBlue Connected Care. If you have your prescriptions filled at any other pharmacy, in most cases you’ll have to pay the full cost of the medication.

What’s the difference between using brand name or generic medications?

Generic medications have the same active ingredients as brand-name drugs and are generally less expensive. We recommend choosing generic whenever it’s an option. Always check with your doctor for this decision.
