Jacksonville, Fla. - January 31, 2024
Florida Blue, the state’s leading health insurance provider, and Sanitas Medical Center (Sanitas) have opened an innovative primary care health center in Jacksonville focused on supporting the area’s Florida Blue members who are 50+ and Medicare members of all ages in achieving their health and well-being goals. Though Sanitas and Florida Blue have collaborated to provide primary care since 2015, the innovative Jacksonville location is their first center in northeast Florida. The center’s comprehensive and high-touch care model brings together the primary care services adults need in one convenient location.
Conveniently located in the Regency area, the Florida Blue | Sanitas Medical Center provides a variety of services under one roof: preventive and primary care, onsite pharmacy dispensing, chronic condition management, mental health services, labs and imaging, and a community use space for patient and community education and social engagement and wellness classes and activities. There is also space for patients and their caregivers and family members to join virtual visits with their care team.
“At Florida Blue, we pride ourselves on being a health solutions company, which means understanding each member’s unique needs and providing appropriate solutions to help them thrive. This is especially important for older adults as health care needs can increase with age,” said Pat Geraghty, president and CEO of GuideWell and Florida Blue. “Through the innovative model we have developed with Sanitas, we are providing customized, accessible, and harmonized primary care solutions to members to help them live healthier lives.
The Center is located at 9400 Atlantic Boulevard, Suite 11, 32225. For more information, call 1-844-665-4827 or visit https://www.mysanitas.com/en/jax.
Supporting the aging population
In Florida, there are more than 4.9 million Medicare-eligible adults, and that figure will continue to grow. In fact, U.S. Census figures note that by 2030, older Americans will make up 21 percent of the population. According to data from the American Psychological Association, by 2060, the number of people aged 65 and older in the U.S. is projected to double from 46 million to more than 98 million, marking the first time in history that the number of older adults will outnumber children under age 5.
In Duval County, this first Sanitas location will help address the unique physical, mental, and social needs of adults and seniors, and aims to help Florida Blue members/patients thrive by engaging individuals earlier in their health care journey. Their experience will be personalized for the unique physical, mental, and social needs of adults to help them thrive as they age.
“We’re unveiling an innovative health care center in Jacksonville tailored to the evolving needs of our adult and senior communities,” shares Juan Estrada, CEO of GuideWell Sanitas. “This model is built with the agility not only to meet but also exceed current standards, expanding in the depth and breadth of our services. It ensures a comprehensive approach that encompasses the health, social, and community needs of every patient.”
Improved Wellness and Lowered Costs
Sanitas tailors the services provided to meet patient needs, which often extend beyond traditional primary care services. Sanitas patients have access to nurses who specialize in different conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure, as well as nutritionists and social workers. Together, these professionals work with each patient to simplify their health care experience, coordinate with other providers, and manage patients’ overall health.
More than 470,000 Florida Blue and Florida Blue Medicare members receive medical care and health and wellness services at the 50 Sanitas centers currently located across Florida.
