Florida Blue Medicare has received renewed Health Plan Accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its BlueMedicare HMO plan. Accreditation shows that health plans are committed to providing outstanding quality care and service to members.
NCQA is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. Considered the gold standard in the health care industry, NCQA recognizes health care companies that lead the market in demonstrating evidence-based standards and procedures.
“NCQA Health Plan Accreditation demonstrates that we are adhering to the highest standards and doing the right things to make sure our members receive the service and high-quality care they deserve,” said Camille Harrison, executive vice president of Medicare and chief innovation and experience officer at Florida Blue and GuideWell. “We also received a 100% score on our Accreditation.”
NCQA is the only program in the industry that bases its Accreditation on clinical performance and the experience of health care consumers. Health plans are evaluated on a variety of measures, such as quality management and improvement, network management, population health management and more. The Accreditation process lets health plans know what they are doing right and where they should focus their improvement efforts, particularly in areas most important to health care consumers, such as access to care, care coordination, and availability of health and wellness resources.
Florida Blue Medicare is part of GuideWell, a family of companies dedicated to helping people and communities achieve better health. Other GuideWell companies and health plans that have earned NCQA Accreditation include:
- Truli for Health: Insurance for employee groups
- Florida Blue: Federal Employee Health Benefit PPO Plan (FEHBP), BlueChoice PPO, BlueOptions PPO, BlueSelect PPO, Marketplace BlueSelect, Marketplace Blue Options
- Florida Health Care Plan (FHCP): Exchange HMO/POS Combined plan, Commercial HMO/POS Combined plan
“As a health plan, it’s important for us to regularly measure ourselves and our plan against our industry’s standards to make sure we are doing what’s right for our members,” said Lee Bowers, president of Florida Blue Medicare. “Achieving NCQA Accreditation shows our commitment to quality improvement and to our members.”
