Our values

Respect

We respect and value the people and organizations with whom we collaborate.

Integrity

We adhere to strong ethical and uncompromising legal standards in every aspect of our business.

Inclusion

We believe in equity and that helping everyone belong makes us smarter and stronger.

Imagination

We continually seek innovative and creative ways to meet the needs of people and communities.

Courage

We aim to act with confidence and resolve in the face of uncertainty and risk, embrace change, and challenge the status quo.

Excellence

We set high standards, expectations and goals for helping people and communities achieve better health.

Our guiding principles

These core principles help guide the priorities and actions of the Florida Blue Foundation, including our grant making decisions.

Improved Access

We prioritize community-based programs that directly improve access to and quality of health-related services for the people of Florida, particularly the underserved and uninsured, racial and ethnic minorities and low-income populations.

Focus

We prioritize initiatives that focus on creating lasting impact for a smaller population over those that support large numbers without sustained benefit.

Impact

We value the extent to which a program demonstrates sustained community benefit and measurable impact.

Diversity

We seek to partner with organizations that are well-informed about populations they serve and have diverse representation in staff and leadership.

Relationships

We value strong, respectful and lasting relationships. We respect the autonomy of the local community in taking responsibility for its future.

Planning

We respect the diligence behind well-thought-out plans. We value plans that candidly admit limitations, identify possible challenges, analyze obstacles and identify steps to address them.

Leadership and Accountability

We value evidence of quality leadership, including a positive community representation, low staff turnover, partnerships with other organizations, and financial accountability.

Learning

We value programs from which we can learn and better inform other programs, as well as our future grant making decisions.

Innovation

We recognize that the issues faced by those we seek to assist are often remarkably complex. Therefore, we value the innovation, thoughtfulness and diligence of organizations to make the best use of available information and experiences to realize their goals.
